Types of Operating Systems in Computers

There are at least four categories of operating systems that are usually used as operating systems on a computer device.

One example of an operating system on a computer is a stand alone operating system and many more which will be explained below.

1. Stand-alone operating system

This system is a stand-alone system and can be used by both single users and multiple users.

School cooperatives have certain features in each type and are a type of operating system category used by computer devices that we usually use today.

2. Network operating system

As the name implies, a network operating system is a type of operating system that functions to operate a computer for network needs.

This means that each computer device has its own network operating system and is capable of operating a computer as a network server or workstation in a computer network.

3. Embedded operating system

One example of an operating system on a computer is an embedded operating system, which is a version of several types of computer operating systems, one of which is a desktop computer.

Embedded operations are applied to smaller computer devices and are closely related to computer operating systems on smart phones, either developing their own computer operations or indeed operations that are deliberately made specifically for smart phones only.

4. Live CD operating system

One example of an operating system on a computer is this type which allows each user to operate a computer using a CD or other compact storage device.

It can be in the form of a diskette or flash drive.

This system has a light resource capacity and is easy to use, but this operating system has limited and incomplete features compared to other operating systems in general.

2. Linux operating system

Linux is an open source or open operating system whose programming source code can be changed and modified according to what the user wants.

Compared to other operating systems such as Windows or Mac, Linux users are only charged a much more economical price.

Minus has advantages unlike other operating systems, because it doesn't require a large memory for the operating system and can be installed on other operating systems.

3. Mac OS operating system

One example of an operating system on a computer is the Mac OS operating system.

Mac OS is a product of Machintos or the Apple company which is the first operating system to use and introduce a graphical user interface (GUI) system before any other operating system exists.

Mac OS has advantages such as:

Very high level of security compared to other operating systems.
The protection system of Mac OS is unmatched compared to other operating systems.
Mac OS display and graphics are of very high quality and attractive.
This type of operation is very popular and is able to compete with the top popularity of the Windows operating system.
